Airport near-miss in Chicago

American aviation authorities are investigating an incident at the international airport in Chicago, in which an Air China cargo plane is said to have taxied onto a runway in front of a Korean Airlines jumbo jet.

A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration said the Korean plane, carrying three-hundred passengers, appeared to have avoided the encroaching Air China plane by only thirty metres.

The incident happened early on Thursday.
