A group of mainland Chinese children have won an important court case giving them the right to live in Hong Kong.

The Court of Final Appeal ruled that they were entitled to stay the territory even though they were born before their parents became permanent residents of Hong Kong.

The ruling will affect some eighty-five children but could pave the way for hundreds of others to apply for residency.
