RSC veteran Dame Judi Dench will talk about her career |
The Royal Shakespeare Company is to celebrate the playwright's birthday on 25 April by throwing open its doors to the public, it has been announced. Actors Dame Judi Dench and Toby Stephens will give talks about their careers at the Stratford-Upon-Avon based venue.
Visitors will also be able to take backstage tours to see the theatre's sets and prop workshops.
Last year a similar event at the venue attracted 10,000 visitors.
Other events planned for the open day include a series of masterclasses.
The RSC's director of voice, Cicely Berry, actor Richard Cordery and director of casting John Cannon will be among those taking part.
Michael Boyd, the RSC's artistic director, said the open day is designed to provide "a real insight into how we work".
"It is my hope that it will become an annual event," he said.
