 Van Helsing will be challenged at the UK box office by Troy |
Action film Van Helsing has taken more than $100m (�56m) at the international box office, it is reported. The movie opened in Indonesia and Venezuela this week as it spent its second week on top of the UK and Ireland box office chart.
However, it is expected to be beaten by Brad Pitt's new movie Troy, industry website Screen Daily reports.
Having already taken $66m (�37m) in international ticket sales, Troy opens in the UK on Friday.
Troy's box office takings are also expected to receive a boost from this week's openings in Italy, Korea, Russia and Japan.
Computer animated sequel Shrek 2 is also expected to become a major success at the global box office.
It has already broken mid-week box office records in the US, taking $11.8m (�6.7m) on Wednesday, and is released in Asia this week
Pirates
Its Asian release was brought forward in a bid to thwart film pirates. Shrek 2 is due to open in the UK on 2 July.
Having previously topped UK and US box office charts, Kill Bill: Volume 2 opens in Mexico on Friday.
It is expected to build on the Mexican success of the film's first instalment, which took more than $610,000 (�340,000) last November.
Kill Bill: Volume 2 has taken $34.9m (�19.5m) at the international box office to date.
