The final part of the BBC adaptation of Bleak House has topped TV ratings with an average of six million viewers. The climax of Charles Dickens' story drew 27.1% of the available TV audience, beating ITV's Airline and Channel 4's The Simpsons on Friday.
The classic story was shown in 15 30-minute episodes, starring Anna Maxwell Martin and Gillian Anderson.
The first episode of Bleak House won an average audience of 6.6 million to BBC One in October.
Book sales
Airline attracted 5.5 million viewers on Friday while The Simpsons and BBC Two's Garden School drew an average of 1.8 million viewers each.
Last month it was revealed that the period drama had helped boost sales of Dickens' books.
Online retailer Amazon.co.uk said it recorded a 290% rise in Bleak House purchases during October.
They also saw a 31% rise in sales of two other Dickens works, Oliver Twist and A Tale of Two Cities.
