Esther Armah
Esther began life with BBC Radio 4 as a researcher following a stint as a presenter for Talking Africa, a weekly one hour live currents affairs radio programme on commercial radio.

Her love affair with law enabled a neat side step from researcher of BBC Radio 4 series to package maker on Law in Action, BBC Radio 4's legal staple.

Reporting was her passion, and for a short time she abandoned the BBC and travelled around Africa, reporting on the 40 years of independence in Ghana, where controversial Islamist leader Minister Louis Farrakhan and military-turned-civilian president Gerry Rawlings shared governance.

It was then on to South Africa in 1996 where she endured serial verbal racial abuse in Pretoria despite proclamations of multi-culturalism.

She even had a stand up row with Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Esther has moved between television and radio, from Panorama and Black Britain to reporting documentaries on radio, including BBC Radio 5 Live Reports, File on 4 and BBC World Service.
