Indian wins world food prize


An American foundation has awarded an Indian entrepeneur its world food prize worth two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand dollars.

The Iowa based foundation said B R Barwale had dedicated his life to improving agricultural productivity in India.

Mr Barwale, who began life as a farmer, is chairman of Maharashtra Hybrid Seeds Company which sells seeds to farmers throughout India and plans to expand into Africa.
