Transport Secretary Lord Adonis on lifting of flight ban

Flights have resumed in UK airspace after a six-day shutdown because of volcanic ash.

Transport secretary Lord Adonis said the decision to re-open the airways was based on advice from the Civil Aviation Authority.

He said the government was doing what it could to help those passengers still stranded.
