Ariadna Güell Sans from the Time Zone Initiative on time zone adjustments and Professor Fiona Douglas from the University of Leeds discusses a BBC archive of disappearing dialects. Ariadna Güell is the deputy director of the Time Use Initiative. The Time Use Initiative (TUI) is a globally-focused, independent non-profit organization promoting the right to time worldwide. They advocate for all countries to try to be as close as possible to natural or solar time – that is, that 12 am is when the sun is in its highest point at any given geography. Fiona Douglas is a professor of English language at the University of Leeds, focusing on dialects and non-standard varieties of British English. She was the primary investigator of the Dialect and Heritage project, a National Lottery supported initiative that digitised and publicised findings from the historic Survey of English Dialects. This initiative, which collaborated with regional museums, aims to preserve vernacular culture while engaging the public through research, events, and a nationwide "Dialect Hunt". Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 6 Music.
