Roles and responsibilities
Lisa leads external communications for the BBC overseeing all media communications, acting as a key spokesperson for the most significant media enquiries and working closely with senior leaders to navigate complex issues and safeguard the BBC’s reputation.
She has responsibility for developing and delivering the external communications strategy across corporate communications, content communications, News, the press office, and campaigns and events.
Biography
Lisa joined the BBC as Director of External Communications in November 2025. Previously, Lisa was a member of the Governing Council at Newcastle University and Head of Strategic Communications at MHP Group.
Prior to these roles, Lisa was the Deputy Chief Executive of the Government Communication Service and the Director of Communications at the Department for Work and Pensions. She has additional experience across both the private and public sectors, including Lloyd's of London, the ECB and various advisory roles within government departments. Lisa holds a PG Diploma in Broadcasting Journalism from Cardiff University and started her career as a broadcast journalist at Real Radio Wales.
