THE PUMP WORKS CAFÉ
What's it all about?
The Pump Works is such a popular hang-out around Silver Street these days that it's hard to believe it's just five years since Jodie Howard opened the café. With its laid back atmosphere and chilled out beats, The Pump Works has gathered a loyal following among local students and families alike.
Despite the modern interior the café still has a homely atmosphere, and it's the perfect place to meet up with friends - whether it's for morning coffee, a working lunch, or a relaxing drink after work. And now that Kuljit's opened the studio next door it's becoming a meeting place for all the local musos as well.
Most likely to see there:
Jodie
- either working behind the counter or just generally keeping an eye on her business
Kuljit
- he's in and out all day from the studio for free coffee and snacks
Krishan
- stuffing his face with Jodie's homemade cookies while doing his homework
Classic moments:
- Ravers from the warehouse club night breaking in and eating all of Jodie's stock.
- Jaggy making his first public appearance in Silver Street to open the café.
- Arun catching Roopa and Aidan in a compromising position in the store room.
Did you know?
Jodie doesn't own the building herself but rents it from Mushtaq Jilani.
And another thing...
Jodie's right-hand woman at the café is called Neeta.
