Working at Pebble Mill ... I've worked for BBC Midlands Today now for 11 years. I was completely green to television when I first started but loved the buzz of live production. I'm the main weather presenter, but recently I've presented the news programme. In between I've done various strands from cooking and gardening to all things 'out and about.' Fond memories of Pebble Mill... I remember seeing Norman Wisdom once. | | Shefali Oza |
I have so many memories. It's the people that make a place. So many faces that have come and gone. There are also the programmes that used to be made here that no longer are - Pebble Mill at One and the Good Morning Show. Of course with the hoards of celebrities appearing on those shows you were always bound to bump into someone in the canteen. I remember seeing Norman Wisdom once - he was tiny - smaller than me. It was just a hive of activity, dramas, lights, cameras, action! The glamour and romance of television - living the fantasy! How you'd imagine the industry to be or at least I did. Moving to the Mailbox ... Moving is going to be a progressive and positive step forward. | | Shefali Oza |
I have to say when the move was first announced, I wasn't overly keen. Losing Pebble Mill with the contribution its made to television in this country, its history, its reputation, its old school charm - very sad. Now I think most people have had time to digest the changes. Moving is going to be a progressive and a positive step forward. The new premises are modern, state of the art, brand spanking new and will allow the BBC to compete on every level in a rapidly developing industry. I was amazed at the amount of space there is, but then there are a lot of people to pack in there. We'll be at the centre of things and more accessible. It's a good thing.
