Back in 1605, a bunch of grumpy plotters thought it’d be a brilliant idea to blow up the Houses of Parliament—and the king along with it! Their plan? Stuff a dark, damp cellar with 36 barrels of gunpowder and kaboom! Goodbye, King James I! Leading the plan was Guy Fawkes, a soldier with a serious love for explosions (and not much common sense). But before he could light the fuse, the king’s guards caught him—thanks to a mysterious letter and some very suspicious sneaking about at midnight. Poor Guy ended up in the Tower of London, where things got painfully nasty!

Now, every Bonfire Night, we remember the Gunpowder Plot with fireworks and bonfires. But how much do you really know about the man behind the mask? Light your brain-fuse, grab your thinking cap, and get ready for some history that’s bang-tastic, grim, and gloriously gory!
