Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot

Ready to test your brains (and maybe blow your mind)? It’s time for the Horrible Histories Guy Fawkes Quiz—all about one of the sneakiest, smelliest, and most explosive plots in British history!

Back in 1605, a bunch of grumpy plotters thought it’d be a brilliant idea to blow up the Houses of Parliament—and the king along with it! Their plan? Stuff a dark, damp cellar with 36 barrels of gunpowder and kaboom! Goodbye, King James I! Leading the plan was Guy Fawkes, a soldier with a serious love for explosions (and not much common sense). But before he could light the fuse, the king’s guards caught him—thanks to a mysterious letter and some very suspicious sneaking about at midnight. Poor Guy ended up in the Tower of London, where things got painfully nasty!

Now, every Bonfire Night, we remember the Gunpowder Plot with fireworks and bonfires. But how much do you really know about the man behind the mask? Light your brain-fuse, grab your thinking cap, and get ready for some history that’s bang-tastic, grim, and gloriously gory!

Watch the Horrible Histories Gunpowder Song here: Sing along as we hear about the birth of fireworks and Guy Fawkes' failed gunpowder plot that led to his capture, with this BANGing tune from Horrible Histories!
