What is a Chinese zodiac animal?

The Chinese Zodiac - known as Sheng Xiao - is based on a twelve-year cycle, and each year in the cycle relates to an animal sign. These animal signs are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram (or goat), monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

If your birthday is in January or early February, your zodiac animal will actually be the same as the previous year. This is because the lunar calendar and the Gregorian calendar don't line up exactly. We have added this information to the print out.
