Play the quiz above or print out the questions below for a simple quiz at home or in the classroom.

1. What does Passover celebrate?

Passover celebrates the story of Exodus. During Passover, Jewish people remember how their ancestors left slavery behind them when they were led out of Egypt by Moses. The festival is called Passover as God told Jewish people to put lamb's blood on their front door so that the angel of death would 'pass over' their houses and spare them from a plague.

2. When is Passover celebrated?

Passover is a spring festival that begins on the 15th day of Nisan, the first month of the Jewish calendar. The celebrations last for seven or eight days, depending on where you live.

3. How is Passover celebrated?

Passover is celebrated with a series of rituals. Each ritual symbolises a different part of the story of Exodus. On the first night of Passover people have a special service called a Seder. This takes place over a meal where the story of Exodus is told from a book called the Haggadah.

4. How many items are on a Seder plate?

A traditional Seder plate consists of six items, each representing a different part of the story. They are Z'roa (shankbone), Beitzah (hard boiled egg), Charoset (paste), Karpas (vegetable), Chazeret and Maror (bitter herbs).
