Laydee: Do you prefer playing idiots like in Father Ted, or heroes?
Ardal: Idiot heros!
I think that I've still got no choice really but to play idiots. I think it's what I was put on this planet to do. I really enjoy playing fools. I don't know if this is good or bad, but it seems to come easily to me! I love comedy in all its forms, and the sillier it is, the more I like it.
Paddy G: Which part of Ireland did you grow up in?
Ardal: I grew up in a place called Craggy Island, which is a mysterious island off the west coast. It can only be seen by satellite.
No, I grew up in a place called County Monaghan, and it's just south of the border. I'm not Irish - I've just realised they've done so well on TV in recent years, that I'll adopt an Irish persona. It worked for Eamonn Holmes and Graham Norton. Graham is actually French!
Laydee: If you really were a superhero, what special power would you like to have and why?
Ardal: That's a very good question! I'd like to be able to play the piano, I think, because I'd like to be able to woo mysterious, Eastern European women. They are very susceptible to a bit of Mozart.
dougalsnumberonefan1: Yo Ardal what's your favourite Father Ted episode?
Ardal: I have to say that I love them all. The one I like best is 'Speed 3', where Dougal becomes a milkman. I think it's one of the very complete episodes of Father Ted. It's one that the writers are particularly proud of. It's just a very well-structured episode with layer upon layer of jokes. And I had a lot to do in it, and I got to drive a milk float!
I still have the milk float, but I've managed to get it to go up to nine miles an hour!
Amy1: What team do you think will win the World Cup?
Ardal: I'm not going to be flippant, and state the obvious here - I think Brazil. Because they're Brazil! They're brilliant. But I do think Ireland will beat Spain on penalties. I won't bet on it though - I only get them right when I don't bet. I think England will trounce Denmark, and Heskey will score!
