Development priorities for 2026/27

For our 0-6 audiences, our content is all about reflecting their lives and loves. We are interested in content with a family focus, stories that reach beyond our preschool audience and deliver delight for the whole family in live-action and animation.

We are currently well-served in the following areas and are not looking for further content covering:

• Dinosaurs
• Early numeracy, literacy and phonics
• Magic and fairytales
• Minibeasts and gardening
• Food and cookery, including from different cultures

Factual and entertainment

• We’re interested in younger-skewing factual entertainment with fun and joining in at its heart and is always focussed on diversity and inclusivity
• We want to bring factual that is truly local and entirely relevant for kids – and helps parents to help their little ones grow and learn through school readiness, reading/imagination, and play
• Bridge content (for 5-8s) that inspires and engages audiences from both the CBeebies and CBBC demographics

Comedy and drama

• Joyful uplifting comedy with lots of belly laughs for preschoolers and their families!
• Open to both live action and animation proposals for 4-6 and 5-8 year-old audiences
• Imaginative, character led, exciting drama and comedy that reflects our audience's realities of family life. Remember families can be anything from biological to blended, assigned to chosen
• Open to more superheroes and fun vehicles in our shows: bring us your planes and space ships and monster trucks!
