We watched episode five of series two. Young Will is taken into the City of the Masters, where he’s dressed in short trousers, sold at auction to a Master, and taught the ways of service by a kind old man.

James: "The Ultimate Gay Nightmare"
This is the gayest thing ever! The human servants wear cute white shorts and tight black leather, many have ‘taches, and we’re assured that in the City men soon lose their taste for women.
I was astonished to see that Young Will’s packet is checked out frequently, and he’s even felt up by his Master’s third leg.
The tone is set by the opening dialogue:
SLAVE: (staring at Will’s trousers) You’re impressed.
WILL: (glancing down) Does it show?
It’s almost unbelievable. Forget the stunning model work or the score - the S&M subtext is quite astoundingly kinky. In later episodes, they actually introduce a disco called the Pink Parrot.
We’re even told that your life is over in your mid-twenties - the ultimate gay nightmare.
Stephen: "Dominatrix Tripod"
Hang on! Where did the immense homo-erotic double entendre come from? That went totally over my head as a young Steve, but thankfully it provides the only enjoyment to be had upon second glance.
This is a garish and plodding piece of sci-fi drama. The costumes look like discards from Frankie Goes To Hollywood videos. The same can be said for the cast.
Still, slaving for a dominatrix Tripod at least gets you moved rent free into a luxury pad with a shower and everything. Shame you'll look like Keith Richards when you hit twenty-one.
