Henry V is set to invade France and reclaim his rightful territory - provided he can prove to his people that he has outgrown his wild youth... We chose Henry V as it was our AS Level coursework text. To enliven the text, students chose to rework Act One with a superheroes theme, adopting the conventions of a comic book and '60s TV shows such as Batman to create a bold and striking look.
They chose to make Henry V a superhero as they saw this as a very patriotic play where Henry is idolised by the majority of his people and represents a model of kingship. The signs and costumes were designed and made by the students, who also storyboarded each shot and took all of the photographs. The editing was completed as a collaboration between staff and students.
