Episode 2 | Written by Danny BrocklehurstTuesday 25th July 2006, 9pm, BBC ONE Single dad Radge (Cal Macaninch), aged 36, acts more like an 18-year-old.
His son Ryan (Tomas Manchester) has always been raised by Radge's gay brother Phil (Daniel Jackson). Recently though, Ryan's started getting into fights at school and Phil is thinking of moving in with his boyfriend.
Desperate to repair the relationship with his son, Radge determines to rise to the challenge of becoming a good father. But he soon discovers that it's not going to be at all easy, as Ryan's worsening behaviour proves how unhappy he is.
Radge gets a rude awakening when he realises that getting to the heart of Ryan's misery means being grown up enough to reopen old wounds. He's forced to tell Ryan the truth about his mother. Rather than dying years ago as he'd previously claimed, she was in fact a drug addict who abandoned Ryan as a baby and has never been in touch since.
Meanwhile, Harry's friendship with Roisin (Maria Doyle Kennedy) is moving forward. But he's torn between this new happiness and his responsibility to hospital-bound wife Kathy (Eva Pope). And feeling excluded from the rest of the lads, Charlie (Hugo Speer) faces up to the repercusions of his and Kathy's affair.
