Come & Play
Please note that booking has now closed for this event.
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to play in the BBC Symphony Orchestra? Find out at our next Come & Play event, where we’ll be inviting amateur musicians to BBC Maida Vale Studios to rehearse Sibelius' 'Finlandia' alongside members of the Orchestra, under the baton of professional conductor Michael Seal. What's more, the event will culminate in a studio performance of the piece, which will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Whether you regularly play in an orchestra or group or if you haven’t played in an ensemble for several years, this is a chance to come and play through a popular orchestral work with some of the UK’s top orchestral musicians by your side and get top tips from a leading conductor.
It’s free to take part but you need to be of a grade 7+ standard. The event is suitable for ages 14 and above. Participants under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or above. Places must be booked in advance and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis per section (unsuccessful applicants will be added to a waiting list).
To take part in this event you will need to commit to both of the following dates:
Saturday 18 April, Afternoon (times tbc)
Sunday 19 April, 10.30am-1.30pm (tbc) and 2.30pm-c.4.00pm
Rehearsals and concert will take place at BBC Maida Vale Studios, Delaware Road, London, W9 2LG
