Due to unforeseen circumstances, Riccardo Minasi has had to withdraw from this performance. However, we are delighted that Lorenzo Passerini will be stepping in to conduct the concert. Please note that there will no change to the programme.
When it comes to symphonies, Beethoven's Third symphony was a real game changer and several centuries on has lost none of its sense of drama. Beethoven originally named his work for Napoleon but famously tore out the dedication after Napoleon crowned himself Emperor.
In contrast, Schubert’s Overture is brimming with light-hearted spirit and playful nods to the sparkling melodies of Italian opera.
