In the spiritual surroundings of St Gilesâ Cripplegate, the voices of the BBC Singers offer immersive and embracing choral works including spine-tingling music by our 2020 Total Immersion composer Anders Hillborg.
Some of Anders Hillborgâs earliest lessons in music were learnt while singing in choirs. At St Gilesâ Cripplegate, the BBC Singers presents the first performance of a new choral work by the Swedish composer alongside some of his established favourites, including the simple song lined with mourning O Dessa Ăgon and the spine-tingling surround-sound of the 16-part Mouyayoum, an immersive experience in itself.
Complementing Hillborgâs works, Ragnar Rasmussen and the Singers bring us the radiant and heartbreaking love songs by Hillborgâs compatriot Sven-David Sandström, a sample of Steven Stuckyâs touching Cradle Songs and Olivier Messiaenâs cut-glass miniature O Sacrum Convivium.
