Schumannâs Second Symphony at Aberdeen Music Hall

Symphonies didnât really come naturally to Robert Schumann, but love-songs did - and with its quiet poetry, joyous sunbursts and coded messages to his beloved Clara, his Second Symphony might just be the best he ever wrote. Itâs the exuberantly happy ending to a concert that begins with Mozartâs joyous twenty-ninth symphony while Ronald Brautigam brings all his brilliance, style and wit to Joseph âPapaâ Haydnâs perfectly cut little jewel of a piano concerto. Guest conductor Markus Stenz and the BBC SSO bring pure sunshine to a November night.
