Exceptional young violinist Chloƫ Hanslip returns to the Orchestra alongside conductor Xian Zhang, as we take a musical journey through France, with a hint of Spanish influence.
Ravelās BolĆ©ro sets the scene perfectly, with its stirring rhythms and atmospheric melody. ChloĆ« will take to the platform for Edouard Laloās Symphonie Espagnole and we finish with Saint-SaĆ«ns Symphony No 3. On the composition of his third symphony Saint-SaĆ«ns proclaimed āwhat I have here accomplished, I will never achieve againā, anticipating his final journey into the symphonic form, and one which encapsulated all that he was as a musician, most notably with his addition of the organ to composition.
