About the author
Jan Nederveen Pieterse is professor of sociology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He specialises in globalisation, development studies and intercultural studies. Recent books are Ethnicities and Global Multiculture: Pants for an Octopus (Rowman & Littlefield, 2007), Globalization or Empire?
