I am 3rd from left 2nd row from back, way back in the days when I was Ann Spencer from Briardale Road.
Next to me 2nd from end is Bunty Burbridge who lived in Penny Lane. 2nd row from back and 3rd from end is Gillian Leigh who also lived a few doors away from me in Briardale. In the middle row 4th from left is Esme Alper who was also at Dovedale Infants school at the same time as I was.
Don't we look well turned out - bows in our hair and best frocks on.
I was sorry to hear that the original building was shortly to be demolished.
I attended in the early 50's during the time that Miss M M Black was headmistress there. She was a lovely lady and was very interested in music and played the piano at assembly.
One of your other contributors mentioned the playground in winter - did we have bad winters then? I remember having great fun with slides of ice.
There would be a great queue of about 20 or 30 of us all waiting to have a go on the slide which would get longer and longer.
There were lots of games and fads that were "in season" one of the most curious was during the craze for "bunny wool" boleros, we would pull the fluff from these and put it in a little tin and see who could collect the most.
Ann Lake (nee Spencer) More memories of Morrison After the war ended, we came back from being evacuated to Wales,[ We had been bombed out twice]. We moved into a house in Claremont Road #44. It was then I attended the Morrison, we only lived there a couple of years, When they rebuilt our house in Old Swan, we moved back into it. On a visit back to England in the 80's, my Mum took us back to see the old school, I remember the lovely red brick on the outside of the building. Mum told me two of the Beatles had attended school there, I wonder if this true or not. If it is , it will be my only claim to fame. I now live in Texas , just outside Houston. Happily married for 49 years.
