|  | As the first buds of spring beginning to appear on the trees it means it's that time of year again when Liverpool welcomes, celebrates and experiences it annual festival of dance, "Leap". |
 | |  | Now in its 12th year the festival attracts some of the finest national and international dance artists and companies who will be performing at venues throughout the city.
Festival organisers, Merseyside Dance Initiative say; "Leap is not only dedicated to bringing renowned dance artists to Liverpool but also to providing support and opportunities for local emerging and established artists".
 | | Bluecoat workshops | Working alongside venues including The Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, Unity Theatre, Bluecoat Arts Centre and City College's Art Centre "Leap" offers a variety of dance events to suit all tastes. There are performances of contemporary Black British Dance, including Hip Hop and African styles, workshops in Asian dance skills. Extravagant cabarets shows which transporting the audience to 1920's Berlin. Inter-continental mix dance performances which combine Italian Baroque and Japanese Electronica and even a performance by Madame Galina which combines classical ballet with stand up comedy.
The finale to the festival takes place at the Everyman Theatre on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th and features the work of Henri Oguike Dance Company. The company who are passionate about developing the use of live music with dance performance will present a triple bill of their work.
