| | Days don't come any better than they did for yours truly last Friday folks... It kicked off with me hotfooting it up to Buckinghamshire to interview the Oasis boys for their forthcoming album Heathen Chemistry. I have to say I found the Gallagher Army in a wonderfully buoyant mood and, on the strength of what I've heard of the new album (their fifth studio album), they've got every right to be, for it finds them firing on all cylinders.
Boasting a collectionof songs written by Noel, with contributions from Liam and Gem, it's an impressively complete-sounding album that's got that distinctive spikiness a lot of us have come to know and love - as well as a maturity that I think will surprise a lot of people this time round. Guaranted To Liven Up Proceedings Interviewing Oasis is something, luckily, I've never found difficult. In fact, I think it's fair to say they've never been backwards in coming forwards in answering any question thrown their way and have always shot straight from the hip.
Never afraid of being honest and certainly never boring, they've always been guaranteed to liven up any proceedings. Along with 120,000 others at the last count, I can't wait for those upcoming shows in Finsbury Park in July.
And fingers crossed, BBC London 94.9FMand I will be backstage with the band at one of the three shows (as we were at Wembley Stadium two summers back), savouring the atmosphere and the build-up to showtime - as well as chatting to Oasis and their special guests The Charlatans and the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Keep Tuned It should, in the immortal words of Frank Carson, be a cracker! So keep tuned to the station over the coming weeks for further developments. |
