A driver has pleaded guilty to killing two women who were struck by a vehicle on a motorway hard shoulder after one stopped to help the other.

Dr Habiba Hajallie and Lisa Webber died in the crash on the M20 in Kent in October 2022, which also left Mark Heap injured, the Old Bailey heard.

Bilal Tahir pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving when he appeared in the dock on Monday.

The crash happened at about 08:20 GMT on 17 October between junctions 1 and 2, Kent Police have previously said.

The two women were declared dead at the scene.

Police also said the incident involved four vehicles, a grey Infiniti Q30 Sport, a black BMW X5, a black VW Golf and a white Iveco Daily van.

Judge Anthony Leonard KC disqualified Tahir from driving.

Tahir, of Bexleyheath, southeast London, was released on conditional bail and is due to be sentenced on 18 May.
