Jordane Bekoe, from New Haw, said returning to find her window smashed and home burgled and turned over had been "like a horror movie"

A mother-of-three claims her home was burgled while she was out celebrating her daughter's birthday and says returning to their house was "like a horror movie".

Jordane Bekoe said burglars smashed a back window and broke into their home in New Haw, near West Byfleet in Surrey, on 24 January, stealing over £20,000 worth of valuables including designer clothes, a luxury watch and high value sums of cash.

Bekoe, her husband and their three children, aged between nine and four, had been out celebrating when she said they returned home to find the house "trashed".

She said: "It feels like our life has stopped."

Bekoe added: "This is supposed to be my children's safe space and that has been taken away from them.

"If I had the money to move, I would."

Bekoe, who runs a bakery business from her home, said the family left their home to celebrate their eldest daughter's birthday at roughly 13:00 GMT, returning at about 23:00.

On returning, her husband found their back window had been smashed, and burglars had raided the home looking for valuables.

She added that, since the burglary, her daughter had felt "riddled with guilt", and that her other child, who is autistic, had been "tipped over the edge" by the ordeal.

A GoFundMe page set up by Bekoe following the ordeal has since raised nearly £2,000 for the family.

A Surrey Police spokesperson said no arrests had been made in relation to the burglary.

They added: "We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time, or have any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage."
