Jersey was recorded as the warmest place in the British Isles on Tuesday, hitting exactly 26C (78.8F).

The temperature beat the highest recorded in the UK by more than a degree - the Isle of Anglesey reached 24.8C (76.64F).

The weather peak came at about 15:00 BST, equalling the second highest April temperature since records began in 1894.

Jersey Met said on X: "The maximum temperature recorded at Maison St Louis today was 26.0°C - this was the equal second highest April temperature since records began in 1894.

"The highest temperature was 26.2°C recorded on the 29th April 1994", it added.
