New summer event to celebrate motorsport heritage
SilverstoneA new summer racing event at a historic venue will celebrate "the heritage and legacy of historic motorsport", organisers said.
The BRDC Classic will be held at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire from 24-26 July and is due to bring together "iconic racing cars, legendary drivers and passionate car clubs".
It comes after the previously named Silverstone Classic, traditionally held over the August bank holiday weekend, was replaced by CarFest.
Organised in partnership with the British Racing Drivers Club, Silverstone said the BRDC Classic aimed to deliver "an immersive experience for fans of all generations".
Organisers said that "at its core, the BRDC Classic will celebrate the enduring legacy of racing".
The three-day event will feature exhibitions of Formula 1 and touring cars, as well as races.
Away from the track, the event will see live music from local artists and "famous faces" attending question and answer sessions.
Silverstone said the event would also feature a display of over 2,000 classic cars representing "over 50 marque car clubs".
