An alleged right-wing extremist has appeared in court accused of calling for "killing migrants when they arrive on their boats".

Ivan Jennings, 46, from Stafford, was charged with encouraging terrorism in an online chat between 15 August and 14 November 2024.

He appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday for a hearing to set a timetable for his case.

Outlining a brief summary of the case, prosecutor Lee Ingham said Jennings was alleged to be a member of a number of extreme right-wing social media chat groups, including on Telegram.

It was alleged he encouraged others to emulate Christchurch terrorist Brenton Tarrant and discussed molotov cocktails and "killing migrants when they arrive on their boats," Ingham said.

Jennings faces a further charge of dissemination of terrorism publications - a terrorist manifesto by Anders Breivik, The Anarchist Cookbook and The White Resistance Manual - on 21 September 2024.

He was also accused of possessing a document for terrorist purposes relating to The Great Replacement by Brenton Tarrant on 14 November 2024.

Jennings, who spoke only to confirm his identity in court, will remain on bail.

Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb said the case would be heard at Leicester Crown Court, with a plea hearing set for 24 April and a provisional two-week trial from 4 January 2027.
