Cats compete paw-to-paw at international show
Getty ImagesAlmost 140 cats from across the world will compete for championship points at an annual cat show.
The Spalding International Cat Show, taking place across Saturday and Sunday at Springfields Events & Conference Centre, will see pedigree and non-pedigree cats compete across five judging rings.
Organiser Stefen Winman said the event was an end of season show, with cats vying for their final points. He said one attendee currently in second place could be crowned "the best cat in the world" after the event.
"It's an intense event for us, but the cats are adored and fussed all weekend and have a whale of a time," he said.
As well as the "serious" competition aspects, with five judges attending from as far afield as the USA and Brazil, there are also more light-hearted elements to the show.
Winman said: "We will have our usual round of ridiculousness with our cat agility tent, where we can try and see if we can get cats going over hurdles and jumps and weaves, and it always ends disastrously.
"It really is good fun."
Organised by TiCats and Cakes, the show is in its seventh year.
The show is also supporting the Lincs Ark Cat Rescue charity by collecting donations of non-perishable food, cat litter and toys at the event.
