A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in Sheffield last week.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested in connection with the incident, which happened on Market Square in the Woodhouse area last Wednesday night.

The victim, who was initially treated for injuries thought to be life-threatening, has since remained stable and was recovering well, South Yorkshire Police said.

The 17-year-old will appear before Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
