Rapist jailed after girl's pizza order alert
West Midlands PoliceA rapist caught by officers after his 15-year-old victim called 999 for help by asking for a pizza has been jailed.
The girl had seen a video on TikTok where another sexual assault victim had phoned police to order a pizza and a West Midlands Police call handler understood the situation she was in.
Kahar had met the girl on Snapchat in June 2025 posing as a 17-year-old boy called Jay. The pair decided to meet in July, where he picked her up in his vehicle and gave her alcohol.
Abdul Kahar, 41, of Anthony Road, Alum Rock, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday where he was sentenced to 15 years.
After being raped and sexually assaulted in his vehicle, the teenager called emergency services from the car and was able to provide details of the defendant's registration.
The call handler asked her yes or no based questions to establish what was happening and to confirm her location, before she was found by the roadside in Druids Heath.
Kahar was later arrested at his address in Alum Rock.
Det Con Lauren Campbell said: "I want to praise the brave actions of the girl and also praise the call handler for having the foresight to understand this was a call for help from someone who was vulnerable and in danger."
