Concerns over upturned car wreck left below cliffs
BBCAn upturned car left for more than a week below a cliff has sparked concerns over when it will be removed.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council said on 10 April it was aware of a blue Peugeot 107 that had gone over the cliff edge at Seathorne in Withernsea.
The vehicle later fell further down the cliff and parts of the wreckage has been left scattered at the bottom. A council spokesperson said the authority was "continuing to investigate this complex issue".
Details of how the car ended up overturned at the site and what happened to the driver remains a mystery.
Walkers and people living nearby have said they are concerned the vehicle could cause pollution the longer it is left on the beach.
One person, who did not want to be named, told the BBC: "Someone should take responsibility for it and get rid of it."
In a social media post, the council previously said: "For safety reasons please do not attempt to approach the vehicle as this could cause harm.
"The vehicle could be at risk of falling so please act with caution if walking on the beach below."
A notice next to the vehicle reads: "Danger: abandoned vehicle police aware".
However, Humberside Police told the BBC it was not a policing matter, while the Crown Estate said the car was not on their land.
