A former tech company site could be turned into more than 100 flats if plans are approved.

The former Intel UK office building on Pipers Way in Swindon, which used to employ 1,000 staff, was vacated by the company in 2025.

MCR Property Group has applied to convert the three-storey office building into 112 flats, a mixture of two-bed, single-bed and studio spaces.

In autumn 2025, the business launched a short-term sale and leaseback disposal of the site, which was built in the early 1980s at a cost of £5m. Last year, Intel officially left the building and Swindon Borough Council's planning committee will meet to discuss the plan in March.

Planners are told that a total of 196 parking spaces and 112 cycle spaces are to be provided on site, and the application adds: "The site has proximity to a number of services and amenities which are accessible via walking and cycling, providing residents and visitors the opportunity to travel by alternative means to the private car.

"Existing bus services offer residents the opportunity to travel further afield and are suitable for commuting purposes."
