Boy, 17, shot in the back but killer remains free
HandoutThe killer of a 17-year-old boy who was shot in the back and left to die on a Liverpool street remains at large 11 years later.
Kevin Wilson, originally from Glasgow but who had recently moved to Merseyside, was struck by a single bullet at the junction of Smithdown Road and Holmes Street in Toxteth on 7 February 2015.
Merseyside Police were called to the scene around 20:30 GMT and performed first aid on the teenager, who died a short time later in hospital.
The head of the force's cold cases unit, Howard Rubbery, said that "someone, somewhere has to the key to solving Kevin's murder".
A number of arrests have been made over the years since Wilson was killed but no-one has been charged with his murder.
'Selfish actions'
Merseyside Police said at the time his "selfish actions" had "severely hampered the entire investigation in the crucial early stages".
The force even spent days searching a landfill site after Connick said he had dumped the phone in a bin near Lime Street train station in the city centre.
Rapper Mazza L20, real-name Malcolm Graham, was also jailed in 2016 for possessing a handgun found to have been used to kill Wilson, although prosecutors said they were satisfied he was not involved in the murder.
Police had previously said they believed Wilson may have been lured to the scene before being ambushed.
Howard Rubbery, head of Merseyside's Serious Crime Review Unit, said: "We know that somebody somewhere has the key to solving Kevin's murder and may not previously had the courage to speak up.
"To that person or persons I would say 'please do the right thing'."
