A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Bestwood.

Police said it was called to reports of three men fighting with weapons in Chippenham Road at about 22:30 GMT on Sunday.

A man was found with stab wounds and taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-altering or life-threatening.

Officers said a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of a knife blade in a public place and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

A 42-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs, while another woman, 31, was held on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

A 28-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of affray has been bailed with conditions.

Second incident

Nottinghamshire Police said there had also been a further arrest following an unconnected stabbing in Bestwood on the same night.

Two 16-year-old boys suffered stab wounds following reports of a fight involving a group of youths inside a property in Eardley Road shortly before 21:00, the force said.

A 16-year-old boy has since been detained on suspicion of affray and bailed while investigation work continues.

Another 16-year-old boy and two girls, 14 and 15, who were arrested shortly, have been released without charge.

Officers said they were satisfied both incidents involved people known to each other and that there was no wider risk to the public.
