A 59-year-old man has been charged following an alleged racially-aggravated incident.

Benjamin Gray, from Eastville in Bristol, has been charged with causing fear or provocation of violence, racially-aggravated assault by beating and assault by beating.

The charges relate to an allegation that people were racially abused and a woman assaulted on Cheltenham Road in the city on Saturday, Avon and Somerset Police said.

A hearing at Bristol Magistrates Court has been adjourned until 26 March, with Gray remaining on conditional bail.
