Tailbacks approximately two miles long have built up on a busy road due to a car fire, according to National Highways.

The A30 has been closed in both directions between Upottery and Honiton in Devon since 15:25 GMT. Diversions are in place.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service said the car was "well alight" but that firefighters managed to extinguish the flames. The cause of the blaze was deemed to be "accidental".

Traffic monitoring website Inrix said the A30 had been shut between Pound Lane in Rawridge and the Rawridge turn-off in Monkton.

The fire service said crews from Ottery St Mary and Honiton were called to the scene.
