Armed police were called to Leeds General Infirmary after a man turned up with suspected gunshot wounds

Two men have been arrested after another man attended hospital with suspected gunshot wounds.

Armed officers were called to Leeds General Infirmary at about 17:30 GMT on Tuesday after the 29-year-old man "presented with injuries consistent with a firearm discharge" and he is currently in a stable condition.

The two suspects, aged 27 and 44, remain in custody after being arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent, West Yorkshire Police confirmed.

Det Ch Insp Daniel Bates, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry team, said: "The incident did not occur at the hospital or on its grounds and an investigation is underway to establish where this firearms discharge has taken place."
