A Surrey council has won High Court orders to stop unlawful works taking place at three sites within its district boundaries.

Describing the orders as a "major success", Tandridge District Council said the work on land at Chelsham, Shipley Bridge and Horne must cease.

The judges ruled all three developments are unauthorised and must stop and the court awarded costs to Tandridge District Council.

The council said its enforcement team will make sure the court's orders are followed and the sites vacated within the legal deadlines.

At the Chelsham site, the judge has ordered that the land must be returned to agricultural use, hedging replanted and gates and fencing removed.

Tandridge District Council said that it is currently pursuing 12 injunctions.

Council leader Catherine Sayer said: "We are taking decisive legal action to stop unauthorised development.

"These latest judgments demonstrate our firm and proactive approach is working and we will continue to use every legal power available to us."
