An inquest into the death of a student who was stabbed near a university campus in Leicester has been opened and suspended.

Khaleed Oladipo, 20, was stabbed in Oxford Street, near De Montfort University (DMU), and died in hospital a short time later on 3 February.

Leicester Coroner's Court said the inquest was suspended pending a police inquiry.

Harper Dennis, 18, of Bath Lane in Leicester, has been charged with murder and his trial has been set for 10 August at Leicester Crown Court.

In a tribute, Oladipo's family described the second-year cyber-security student as "a good boy who loved his family".

"We cannot begin to put into words how sad we are to have lost Khaleed," they said.

"He was an extremely loved son, brother, uncle, boyfriend and friend."

Leicestershire Police said a post-mortem examination showed Oladipo died as a result of a stab wound to the chest.
