Man arrested over fatal east London stabbing
PA MediaA 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was fatally stabbed in Shadwell, east London.
The victim, believed to be in his late 20s or 30s, was found by paramedics with a stab wound in Watney Street on Tuesday. He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.
A second man, in his 50s, was found at the scene with a minor injury to his arm. He was taken to hospital but later discharged.
The Met Police said the arrested man had handed himself in at West Midlands Police station in the Birmingham area on Friday. He was then taken to a police station in east London, where he remains.
Detectives are still working to confirm the man's identity.
A 45-year-old man was arrested in the Greenwich area on Wednesday on suspicion of assisting an offender. He was bailed pending further inquiries.
Det Ch Insp Dave Whellams said: "This is a significant update, which I hope brings reassurance to the local community.
"While we have made an arrest, our investigation continues and we are working to identify the victim and his next of kin."
