A man has been arrested for the alleged supply of the sleeping pill zopiclone

A 65-year-old man has been arrested after several people were taken to hospital having taken sleeping pills.

On Friday, Cleveland Police said several adults from Middlesbrough, Stockton and Hartlepool were taken to hospital after experiencing "significant adverse effects" from taking a drug called zopiclone.

It is a sleeping pill prescribed for the short-term treatment of insomnia, according to the NHS.

Cleveland Police said the suspect had been arrested on suspicion of supplying Class C drugs and has since been released on bail.
