Four more ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and Lancashire have been cancelled due to incoming severe gales.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said Wednesday evening's crossing of the Manxman, along with Thursday's scheduled daytime services, had been called off.

Ferry sailings between between Douglas and Heysham had resumed on Wednesday morning following cancellations on Tuesday as a result of rough sea conditions.

Ronaldsway Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning from 02:00 until 15:00 on Thursday with gusts of up to 65mph (104km/h) expected to hit the island.

Forecasters warned the severe gales could lead to fallen branches or trees, and disruption to travel.

The government-owned ferry firm said passengers could change their bookings free of charge online or by contacting the reservations team.
