Children at a hospice in Leicestershire will have access to new play equipment after receiving a grant from Charnwood Borough Council.

Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough, which offers support for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, has been given £5,000 to spend on an inclusive roundabout, which will be accessible for wheelchair users.

Hannah Tee, manager for trusts and philanthrophy, said: "This grant will help more children enjoy the simple joy of playing outside with their families."

The hospice is mainly funded through charitable donations.

A total of 19 projects recently received community funding from the council.

Councillor Liz Blackshaw, the council's lead member for communities and neighbourhoods, said: "Projects like these are often run by volunteers and funding is vital, therefore I would encourage any similar, local projects to have a look at what funding is available for them to ensure they can keep delivering their excellent work."
